[Trans|SC Zoom-In] GFRIEND's Comeback Countdown, How Did They Become Such Trending Girlgroup

Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, SinB and Umji, six member girlgroup GFriend is having their comeback. By this comeback it is anticipated what GFriend could accomplish while Twice and Sistar also had their comebacks this summer. The amount of attention GFriend is receiving for this comeback is quite high it is because they keep on releasing albums that completely satisfy all the fans.

Last year's January, GFriend did not receive much popularity after their debut. With the average age of 18.1 and refreshing highschool girl charms GFriend released Teaser Videos having the concept of 'School-life'. As a result the viewers thought that they are no different to every other "teen-age concept" girlgroup debuting. With a "strange" group name, standing on the stage like Girl's Generation's debut song 'Into the New World' and people saying that they are having the same concept (with ITNW) also came out.

However, July on that same year, by releasing "Me Gustas Tu", GFriend took over the top girl group position. With melody that seemingly penetrates the ear and vivid innocent concept that feels "just" right, GFriend caused quite an explosion of various reactions. Sweeping the number one spot on music charts and they almost won in a Music Show as well. After this 'Me Gustas Tu' was continuously nominated for the number one spot on music shows. This gave rise to a syndrome where fans increased their interest to "Glass Bead". At that moment fans gave them plenty of positive reacions like 'easy to memorize and familiarize' (T/N: pertaining to the friendly and easy to memorize lyrics of their songs).

One year after, GFriend released their best song in the name of "Rough". Even though they were treated as "one hit wonder" girlgroup, through "Rough" GFriend showed us that they are no ordinary group as they maintained as one of the top girl groups. Three days after the release, "Rough" MV received more than two million views. Recently it was reported that GFriend's "Rough" was crowned as the number one song in terms of digitals according to Gaon Charts and it even surpassed the record of the extremely popular KBS2 Drama "Decendants of the Sun" OSTs.

And this incoming July 11, GFriend is starting their full scale promotion for their very first regular album 'LOL' with the tile track "You and I (Navillera)". The album name 'LOL' contains two different meanings namely "Laughing out Loud" and "Lots of Love". Furthermore, GFriend caused quite an uproar once again as their new album sold 60,000 copies just for pre-orders. It should be noted that it is very unusual for a girlgroup one year and six months old to have 60,000 pre-order sales proving the speed of their fandom growth.

You & I(Navillera), Glass Bead, From Today We(Me Gustas Tu) and Run Through Time(Rough) were all hit songs made by the same composers, Iggy and Youngbae. All of which have their iconic "Powerful Innocent Beauty". On top of that, Wonder Girls, Sistar, Girl's Generation, etc. are prominent senior groups enduring at the top and there are also the frightening rookie groups like Twice, I.O.I., etc. are quickly rising up. In the middle of these monster girl groups, GFriend is about to "shake the K-pop world" once again this time. We still have four more days to wait.

I can't think that they belong to a small company With that album quality & planning, the well-trained members' skills & the result of supportive efforts of the comepany, then we can no longer call GFriend "a miracle of a small stone".

I think GFriend's advantage is that they steadily do their comebacks once every six months. Also the fans and the public masses would always maintain high expectations since the (time of) comebacks are quite predictable. No matter how popular a group is if the comeback cycle is just once a year, then naturally the fans would have no choice but to move on their attention to other groups. Even if I'm not a fan of GFriend I'm still very excited for this album. Then I think I have to live with my earphones for a while hehehe (T/N: I think the commenter meant it as "listening to their songs while waiting for the comeback")

"5 member group" must be an error. It should be "six member girlgroup". Aissh Reporter-nim!

Translator Notes: (aside from the T/N I placed in the article)
I actually laugh at the title of the article (tho you might find me weird after my explanation).

At the bracket you can see that I wrote it as [SC Zoom-In]. The Korean text says, [SC줌人] or [Sports Chosun 줌人]. The second character was written in Hanja or the Chinese Characters in Korean writings.

The Hanja "人" is equivalent to "person/people/man" in English. While "person" could be translated as "사람 /sa-ram/" it could also be translated into the Korean word "인 /in/" which also means "person/people/man".

So going back to the bracket [SC줌人] it could be read as [SC Zoom "Saram"(Person)] instead of [SC Zoom "In"].

And I think the reason they made that as the segment's title is that they are "zooming-in" into people's achievements or something like that.

I hope you didn't get bored at my Translator's Notes.
Thanks for Reading.
